Download the fastboot file you need from this link.
Download the TWRP recovery for your tablet from this link.
Download the SuperSU rooting exploit from this link.
Learn how to set up ADB and Fastboot on your Windows computer if you do not have it done already. You do not need to do it again if you have done it earlier from a different rooting method.
Connect the Google Nexus 7 tablet to the computer with the USB cable.
Transfer the SuperSU zip file over to the root of the internal storage SD card.
Transfer the TWRP recovery over to the same folder as your ADB and Fastboot.
From within the Fastboot folder, hold the Shift key and right-click to bring up a new menu. Choose to open the command window here from that same menu.
Put the Nexus device in Bootloader mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power keys until you see the bootloader mode text on the display.
Type the following command to flash your custom recovery on the Nexus 7: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-flo.img
Check your devices display and select to enter the recovery mode option from the bootloader menu.
Tap the ‘Install’ option from the custom recovery menu and browse the SD card for the SuperSU — it must be still zipped to work.
Follow the on-screen instructions to flash that SuperSU on your device.
Once the SuperSU is flashed, you can go to the main recovery menu and select the ‘reboot system now’ option.
